Celebrating Chinese new year with The Food Education Company!

The children from Greenhead and Herdley Bank joined their friends at Henshaw C of E First School in Northumberland to also enjoy a Chinese New Year celebration.

Judith Reay, Executive Headteacher
said: "The children enjoyed a Chinese cookery demonstration led by Kat from The Food Education Company. This event supported the Healthy Schools standard held by all three schools and also promoted our cultural aspects of the curriculum."

The children also indulged in a Chinese lunch prepared by the Unit Managers who had decorated the hall with Chinese lanterns, flags and calendars.  Post Graduate Students from the University of Cumbria had helped the children design and make a fabulous Chinese dragon which paraded and danced throughout the day.

A great day was had by all!

"All of the children were fully engaged throughout the morning and enthusiastic about re-creating the dishes at home. I was really impressed with how the event involved so many of the children with both the preparation and tasting of the food. It was great to see the children leaving the hall with smiles on their faces and to hear them talking about the dishes out on the playground. We will definitely be booking The Food education Company in the future."
